The Tiv/Jukun crisis in southern Taraba had taking a new dimension as the people of southern Taraba has accused PHCN officials in Benue state of not supplying the zone with electricity due to the ongoing Jukun/Tiv Crisis.
They people disclosef that it is the habit of PHCN officials in Benue state to stop electricity supply to Takum, Wukari and Donga when ever there is a crisis between Tiv people and any tribe in southern.
According to our correspondent this is not the first time such has been happening.
” This is not the first time we have been experiencing this when ever there is crisis between Tiv and any tribe in Taraba state, there brothers working with Nepa will intentional stop supplying us with electricity”
“Sometimes this Tiv people living along Zaki biam – Wukari and Takum – Katsina Ala road will go as far as cutting down electricity supply cable leading to Taraba”
” We dont know if this is their on way of contributing to the crisis”
” We are surprised at this, it seems the Tiv have decided to fight us using all material at their disposal and their brothers in offices have also been doing the same”
The People of Southern Taraba called on the government to look into this issue.
However, Death tolls in separate attacks on communities yesterday rose to 17. Over 240 residents were displaced and their homes razed.
Police spokesman, David Misal, confirmed the attacks and killings to The Nation on telephone. “Yes, there were incidents of attack. But I am yet to get the details,” he said.
In Maigoge settlement of Bali council alone, four persons were feared killed. Two others were gunned down and dozens wounded in Ananum and Akate areas of Donga, witnesses said.
