Sanusi To Resign As Emir of Kano State – Arewa Focus

The ongoing battle between Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje (Governor of Kano State) and Muhammadu Sanusi II (Emjr of Kano) may soon be a history as unconfirmed source from the Emirate revealed that the Emir might soon resign his position.


It could be recalled that, Muhammadu Sanusi was nominated and confirmed as emir of Kano Emirate in 2004 by Engineer Rabi’u Kwankwaso the then Governor of the state following after the demise of Alhaji Ado Bayero.


We could also fine out that, the principal problems between the Governor and the Emir are their political differences during the 2019 general election where Sanisi was accused of supporting Abba Yusuf the PDP candidate.


Even though Ganduje has made several efforts to unseat the Emir but due to the influence of several top stakeholders in the state he fine it very difficult to actualize his plans.


The source further confirm that Sanusi resignation is due to the facts that the Emir wants to avoid further embarrassment by the state governor due his affirmation in the supreme court recently.
